Maddog Trout Unlimited April 7 Meeting at the Reservoir

Past event
Apr 7, 2022, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

The MadDog Chapter of Trout Unlimited is back to The Reservoir in Waterbury, VT (and still going on-line) for the April 7th MadDog TU Meeting.

(MDTU is sending out the Zoom link for those wishing to attend virtually on Monday April 4th. Please email eventmdtu@gmail.com for a link to the meeting).

This is our annual Vermont Fisheries Update on trout and salmon!

This month we'll be updated on wild trout sampling that occurred on the Dog River, Mad River and Little River last year.  Also we'll hear why VT F&W has switched landlocked salmon strains from the Magog to the Sebago strain in the Clyde River.  Additionally, we'll hear about maps being released this spring showcasing the Stream-bank Management Areas across the State.  Over 100 miles of Fish Division ownership were purchased (mostly in the 1960's) to ensure angler access.  These exciting new maps are created by Levi Brown and Sam Mayne.  We'll see examples of the maps and plans for parking lot development that will happen over the next few years.  Finally, there's an update on the use of strategic wood additions and we'll hear what's going on with brook trout ponds.

Joining us are 3 Vermont State Biologists Bret Ladago, Peter Emerson and Jud Kratzer each with their update on projects and studies.  Thanks to them for taking the time for these presentations!

Our gathering begins, as is our custom, at 6:30 PM with time to chat informally.  The proper meeting starts at 7:00.  Presentations approximately at 7:20.

Hope you can make it in person or on-line!
