1859 Town Hall Update and Invitation:
1859 Town Hall Visioning -Monkton Town Hall, Saturday, March 26th- 11 to 12 drop in.
Drop in between 11 and 12 to share your vision for the 1859 Town Hall Museum and Community Center. If you can't make it, please email any suggestions to monktonmhs@gmail.com
I am happy to report that, with a 250 person majority, the Monkton town voters supported a delay of the private sale of the 1859 Town Hall. As was written in the Monkton Town Report, we have an opportunity to create a place for business and community on Monkton Ridge. We have an opportunity to preserve the historical legacy of our town icon.
This revitalized building could be a tremendous venue for a variety of entrepreneurial interests. It could foster more connections between town businesses and the Monkton community. It could be a source of interest for the many Chittenden/Addison County commuters. The Monkton Museum would be in the back of the building, leaving the front portion for many creative possibilities. Crafts and other products could be displayed, agricultural and baked goods could be available with, as one person requested "awesome coffee." Pop up food carts could offer lunch and these could rotate throughout the calendar. It could become a relaxing centrally located spot to access wifi and maybe print hard copies of materials for presentations. Semi- regular coffee house music events could be offered. These are all the possibilities we can explore together this Saturday.
Come and share your ideas for the 1859 Town Hall. Please help us make this a place you would want to visit. Your input is valued because we want the community to value what is created. Thank you for any suggestions or ideas for this project.
Again drop in between 11 and 12 this Saturday in the Monkton Town Hall Community Room to share your vision for the 1859 Town Hall Museum and Community Center. The town zoom link will also be open, if you want to visit virtually.
