Underhill's Annual Plant Sale

Past event
Jun 7, 2014, 9 to 10 AM

One of the oldest annual plant sales in the area will take place—rain or shine—on Saturday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m. sharp at the Underhill Town Hall. Underhill’s Conservation Commission conducts this popular event; funds from the sale support the Commission’s natural resource education and protection work.

Have some perennial cuttings, annual seedlings, shrubs, trees, bulbs, houseplants, or other healthy plants to spare? Join the fun and share them! Just label them and bring them to the Town Hall by 8:45 a.m. on June 7 in bags, boxes or any other type of container. You can also post digging rights if you have lots of plants to offer—please provide cards with the name/s of the plant/s and your name and contact info if you’d like to take advantage of this opportunity.

And back by popular demand: the Conservation Commission will again be selling blueberry plants! They’ll be just $9 each for two-year old plants in 4” pots. A limited number of blueberry plants will be available (120), so come early to get yours. We are also taking pre-orders for blueberry plants. The varieties are:

High Bush
Blue Ray – Perhaps the best midseason ripening cultivar for u-pick growers. Fruits are large, some of them an inch in diameter. Flavors of sweetness with a desirable hint of acidity make it a fine flavored fruit. Ripens mid-season.

Blue Gold – A 1989 release from the USDA, for mid to late season fruits. The fruits are medium in size with excellent flavor and are high in antioxidants. Ripens mid- to late season.

Half High Blueberries

Northland –The flavor of the fruits are mostly sweet from the 1st to the last fruits. Grows in any soil type and is virtually indestructible in any environment. Plants grow to 4 feet high. Ripens early to mid-season.
Payment will be required prior to the start of the plant sale; otherwise pre-orders will be released for general sale. Checks made out to UCC.

The Underhill plant sale is a terrific opportunity to buy a wide range of plants for amazingly low prices. But it happens fast, so if you’re even 15 minutes late, you could miss it all!
