The following is posted at the request of the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans): The Vermont Agency of Transportation has the opportunity to rehabilitate/replace BR 8 on US 2 between the towns of North Hero and Grand Isle, Vermont.

BR 8 ((North Hero-Grand Isle BHF 028-1(26) Bridge) is a historic twin leaf bascule bridge, and the only vehicular movable bridge in the State of Vermont. The project is currently in the Scoping Phase of the VTrans Program Development Process. Scoping is a process that develops safe and effective alternatives that meet the stated purpose and need of the project while minimizing environmental impacts. The scoping process results in the recommendation of a preferred alternative, which has local, regional and VTrans support. VTrans has contracted the HDR Engineering team to assist VTrans in this process as their design consultant.

A "Local Concerns Meeting" will be held on May 29th, 2014 at 6 PM in the North Hero Elementary School gymnasium. The public will have the opportunity to receive information on proposed alternatives and share their opinions / comments at several points throughout the scoping process.
