Patagonia Film Showing: Newtok

Past event
Mar 24, 2022, 7 to 9 PM

Join us for Patagonia's latest film, Newtok, about the town of Newtok, Alaska which is quickly experiencing the effects of climate change.

About this event:
This 2022 Patagonia film showing will take place at the Merill's Roxy Cinema in downtown Burlington. All ticket proceeds will go to 350VT, a local organization that supports folks in Vermont to work together for climate justice.

About the film's content: Patagonia Films presents a feature documentary about the inhabitants of Newtok, Alaska, a village that needs to urgently relocate due to climate change. Scientists warn that communities like Newtok are only the tip of a global wave of climate refugees we should expect to see as the climate crisis impacts more parts of the world. This story reflects a larger goal of educating Patagonia audiences about climate justice issues. We will engage with our community by offering a clear call to action that will benefit the people of Newtok.

Come join us for this film which is roughly 1.5 hours long in the comfort of a true movie theater. Doors open at 6:30pm and the film will start at 7pm. Afterwards, we will get to hear from the filmmakers and have a Q&A session with them as well!
