With your help, Greenup Day will make our town shine!
Make Green Up Day a fun family activity. Your help makes a huge difference in keeping our roads clean and giving back to your community feels great too. It's also a great way to get to know neighbors, engage kids in community service, and get out and enjoy the day! Maybe it inspires you to walk and clean up a road you've never been on before? Or pick the route you walk every day. However you do it, help us with Green Up Vermont's CLEAN EVERY MILE CHALLENGE. We're collectively aiming to Greenup EVERY MILE OF EVERY ROAD IN VERMONT! Can we collectively clean up all 80 miles of Calais roads? We can with your help!

Some years a local school or community group organizes a bottle drive to coincide with Greenup Day. Historically, we've allowed both drop off of returnable bottles collected roadside, as well as bags of household cans and bottles and had a team of volunteers to sort, load and haul to the redemption center. The last time we did this they group raised $638, which is around 13,000 bottles (4-5 truckloads). Please let me know if you're part of a group that has interest and capacity to take this on this year.
Janet and I need to step back from co-coordinating Greenup Day moving forward. We'd love to find one or two volunteers who could assist this year and take over coordination next year. We have all the systems in place (including a core team of dedicated volunteers) to make it go smoothly. It's not a very large time commitment, it sadly just doesn't fit our schedules anymore, please let me know if it might fit in yours.
