US Drug Policy and Latin America Is Focus of March 20 Program

Have harsh drug control policies caused more harm than good? Is it time to reconsider punitive drug policies that disrupt supply chains and punish drug possession?

These are some of the questions that will be explored during a March 20 program on US drug policy and Latin America. The program is sponsored by the Bennington Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. This is part of a five-part series on global issues developed by the Foreign Policy Association.

The Great Decisions program includes a pre-recorded presentations by FPA scholars followed by small group discussion among participants. A briefing book with material about each of the issues is available to purchase or on loan.

The program will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 108 School St., Bennington. Proof of vaccination will be required and, at presents, masks are required.

Great Decisions is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required for those who did not attend the Feb. 20 session on Russia. For information or to register for the series, please write to AAUWBennvt@gmail.com.

Participants are encouraged but not required to read background on the topic from the Great Decisions briefing book. During the program. Copies are available at the Bennington Free Library for use at the library. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and to express ideas and opinions while learning from one another.
