Hand Quilting for Beginners Tuesday at 2PM

Past event
Mar 8, 2022, 2 to 3 PM

Daughter of a well-known Rochester area quilter, Barbara Rochlin, Sheila Braun will present Every Stitch With Love, How and Why to Quilt With Our Foremothers on March 8th at 2:00.

"We were raised in the Mennonite tradition and I remember being little enough to hang around under the quilting frame at the church's sewing circle, then growing up and being one of the people doing the quilting while other children played under the quilt," remembers Braun.

Sheila Braun will give talk about choosing a pattern and fabric, provide a list of all the tools and supplies you will need, offer tips and techniques for quilting by hand. This program will go on to cover how to assemble your blocks and binding the finished project.

Depending on the interest of those attending, this program may grow into a series of meetings where participants gather with their projects to sew together, exchange ideas, ask questions, and get advice or even a group project and quilting bee.

This introduction to quilting is geared to all ages and genders and will be presented both in person at the library and in the comfort of your home via Zoom.

Call the Rochester Public Library at 767-3927 (Tuesday & Thursday 11-6, Saturday 9-12) or email rochesterpubliclibraryVT@gmail.com for more information or to reserve a seat.
