The Mad River Libraries announce a community poetry workshop at the Warren Public Library on Sunday, March 13 from 4:00-5:30 pm. Poetry novices, dabblers, and experts from ages 10 to adult are invited to explore what poetry has to teach us about ourselves and one another. By the end of this workshop, participants will have discovered the elements of a poem, brainstormed possible poetry topics, and practiced writing poems in a variety of formats.

The workshop will be hosted by local poets Susan Bauchner and Sally Reisner. Since moving to Warren in 2003, Susan Bauchner has involved herself in the arts. She has performed at the Valley Players theater, is a regular reader for the Vermont Playwrights Society, and had her original play, "Something Like" performed in TenFest. She is a member of the Poetry Society of Vermont, where a number of her poems have been published over the years. Susan has written prolifically during the time of Covid, and three of her poems were featured in the local library book, A Year of Its Own. Sally Reisner was an English teacher for twenty years. She has always loved reading and writing prose, poetry, and memoir. She joined the Poetry Society of Vermont twenty-one years ago and was on the board for twenty years. Her poems have been published in Pebbles From the Stream, a collection of poems by the Mad River Poets, Brighten the Barn, the sixtieth-anniversary anthology of the Poetry Society of Vermont, and issues of The Mountain Troubadour. Susan and Sally look forward to engaging participants in the workshop.
