There is a lot of talk about the recent development and looking to point fingers at who is responsible.
Listed below is a real oversimplification of the process, but I think it may help in understanding legislative power and execution of the Zoning By-Laws :
1. Planning Commission Drafts Zoning By-laws from input from any Morristown resident or business.
2. Drafts are sent for review and approval to the Selectboard and the Village Board of Trustees.
3. Approved By-laws are the legal criteria for issuing permits by Zoning Administrator and DRB. Here are the Zoning ByLaws for 2021- Zoning Bylaws January 2021-https://morristownvt.org/planzone ( link at bottom of page)
I have a more in-depth discussion on my website for you. https://selectstreets.com/drb-planning/
There has also been quite a buzz about serving on multiple Boards and Commissions or councils. You can read my opinion on the matter here: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Link: https://selectstreets.com/should-you/ . Just to reiterate-I will vacate my DRB seat if elected to the Selectboard.
Most important- VOTE!
The deadline is next Tuesday, March 1st. In-person, or you can drop your ballot off at the Town Offices on Main St. Morrisville. Day or Night in the Box out front.
I appreciate your consideration,
