The Argyle Improvement Association (AIA) will host its quarterly meeting, and first under its new name, on Monday, Feb 21, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., via Zoom and in-person at the Argyle Free Library on Sheridan Street. The Zoom link will be sent closer to the date for those interested.

Our three sub-committees (Village Water and Sewer, Streetscape, and Stiles House Renovation ) have been very active since we last gathered in October and their activities will be further discussed at the meeting. The following is a draft vision statement for AIA. Please review and we'll discuss at the meeting.

The Argyle Improvement Association: building on its previous legacy, the community-wide 2021 survey, a renewed sense of community, and an undiminished love of Argyle, has resurrected itself. The function of the ne w AIA is to provide a forum for community members to explore issues which we perceive are holding Argyle back, propose solutions, provide sweat equity, and seek and raise funding for the betterment of our community. The AIA believes Argyle's best days are ahead of us and long-standing issues which have restrained our community can be overcome with determination, a dedicated core of volunteers, and resources of funding and time. The AIA will work with residents, businesses, local and state government entities, elected officials and staff, and other community and non-profit groups to achieve results which improve the quality of life for those who call Argyle home.

The AIA will look holistically at our community and will seek solutions to issues both small and big. Using our voice, we will highlight successes in our community as well as draw attention to issues which demand our attention with the goal of ultimate resolutions. Changing our community's and visitor's perceptions and achieving a 21st Century vision for Argyle will not happen overnight, but we believe will be achieved through the completion of many small steps and occasionally a big one.

To facilitate the changes we seek, AIA will incorporate in New York State as a nonprofit charitable association with 501c.3 IRS status. A core tenant for AIA will be to create a sustainable funding source through a combination of fundraisers; contributions from businesses and residents; and local, regional, and state grants. We seek your engagement in this most worthy endeavor for the sake of our loved ones, our children, and our children's children.

All Argylians and their friends are welcome to attend.

See you soon,
