TOWN MEETING PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL HEARING
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2022
10 A.M. via Zoom
The 2022 Calais Town Meeting will not be held as a public gathering due to the continued pandemic. The Vermont Legislature passed bill S. 172 into law, permitting municipalities to again adjust Town Meeting procedures for this year. The Calais Selectboard approved Calais registered voters to vote all Articles for the March 1, 2022, election by Australian ballot.
On Saturday, February 19, 2022, starting at 10:00 am, a hybrid Public Informational Hearing will be held. This will be a hybrid meeting allowing participation via Zoom, telephone and in person at the Town Hall. We encourage the use of Zoom. If you plan to attend in person, physical distancing and masks are required.
Whether in person or by Zoom, voters will have a chance to discuss and ask questions about Articles 3-26 appearing on the Calais Town ballot. The Warning and Agenda for this meeting are on the Calais website at https://www.calaisvermont.gov/index.asp?SEC=AF7CB9AF-D3EF-40BA-96B9-102E9040F7FC and posted at the Town Office, Maple Corner Community Store, East Calais Post Office, and Adamant Coop.
This meeting is for the Town Warning only and will not cover Articles on the WCUUSD school or CVCC School District ballots. Warned Articles cannot be changed and will not be voted on during the Informational Hearing. All voters have been mailed a Calais Town ballot with instructions and a pre-addressed return envelope, or they can be delivered to the Town Office and be placed in the secure drop box. There is no voting taking place at the Town Office.
You can submit questions regarding the Warned Articles in advance to calais.townclerk@gmail.com. By submitting your questions in advance, it will assist us in being prepared with answers. We will also take questions during the Informational Hearing.
