My friend Jessica and I are excited to start a coding club on Tuesdays at the Library, with our wonderful library director Margaret, and support from Beth Damon, the STEM teacher at CCS, and the engineers at Hack Club, the coding nonprofit in Shelburne.
Charlotte Coding Club will be for 5th-12th graders, and will start March 1, 3:30-4:30pm, and run every Tuesday for 6 weeks.
In class we'll be building websites, games and art using many popular coding languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python and more. Kids will get to know their way around the hardware.
Beginners are welcome. Advanced coders should definitely join as we can work in Ruby, Rails, JavaScript and React, plus Unity and C# (for game dev). Here are our workshops (https://workshops.hackclub.com/)
If you attend the Hack Club at the Shelburne Library on Thursdays, you'll see some familiar faces!
Jessica is a professional software engineer. I am new to coding and have 2 middle school daughters who love to code. We both live in Charlotte.
Drop by and try out one club meeting. Coding is a wonderful skill that leads to the high-paying jobs that will help build our future economy, Coding also teaches problem solving, cooperation and critical thinking. Coding is a lot of fun, and something everyone can learn to do.
I appreciate if you would email me if your child would like to attend as we aim for about 12 kids. We can offer support around transportation/devices.

If you are a software engineer in town, please reach out to volunteer!
Thank you -- Christina
