This will be the first meeting for the Board since Tuesday, January 25 the MAUSD School Board when the Board heard a presentation by Nate Levenson of New Solutions K12. The School Board hired Mr. Levenson and his team to create an unbiased, objective way for the Board to evaluate each of the components of 6 community proposals, and the proposal by Superintendent Reen, that attempts to address declining enrollment in our district. We strongly recommend community members read the draft report. This report outlines the process used by Mr. Levenson and his team, evaluates how well each of the seven proposals meets 11 evaluation criteria established by a group of principals and community members, and also shows the financial impact. Here is a link to the report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vtrmmEMZxipjTQSUbgt68jGTndOqiRhB/view
The January 25 presentation to the School Board was an overview of this work and the results. The Board asked questions and offered feedback to be incorporated into a final version of the report which will be completed in one month. In the meantime, the Board will be planning the next steps in this process, beginning with a conversation at the next Board meeting on February 8. This process will include opportunities for community engagement and input.
If you missed the presentation on January 25, you can find the recording on Neat TV at neatbristol.com. If you have questions or comments about the report, or the process, please send them to Krista Siringo at krista.siringo@mausd.org or Dawn Griswold at dawn.griswold@mausd.org. This feedback will be passed on to Mr. Levenson.
Thank you for your continued engagement!
Best,
Rob Backlund
