Slavic Sing at the Marshfield School of Weaving

Past event
Mar 1, 2022, 7 to 8:30 PM

It's time to sing! Join leader Maria Schumann for a weekly sing in the beautiful studio of the Marshfield School of Weaving. We'll focus on traditional folk songs from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus but will also learn a song or two from the Baltics, the Balkans, and/or Georgia.

Studies have shown that singing, both alone and even more so in a group, reduces anxiety, stress, and depression, boosts the immune system, and improves memory, lung and heart health. Through melody, harmony, dissonance, rhythm, and images of nature, these ancient songs create a deep and powerful experience that resonates through mind, body, and soul. We'll learn from ear and we will sing both in unison and in harmony.

No singing experience necessary, just a commitment to attending all sessions (unless sick!). Covid Protocols: up to date vaccination, K/N95 masks, and we will keep the group small. 8 sessions, $80 suggested donation. No one turned away for lack of funds. To register, please email: maria@catehillorchard.com.
