Join Cold Hollow to Canada (CHC) for a Wildlife Tracking Event on Saturday, February 5, from 2:00-4:00pm in the woods of Belvidere! For this adventure, we'll walk together through the woods behind Belvidere Elementary School and see what wildlife signs we encounter. Led by Wildlife Tracker and Cold Hollow to Canada Community Science Coordinator Sophie Mazowita, we'll go through some basics of wildlife tracking and discuss the behaviors and ecology of the wildlife we find. This excursion will involve some moderate walking, and we may go off trail in order to follow tracks. There will be ample opportunity for questions and conversation.
Depending on weather, snowshoes may be encouraged. Please be prepared to be outdoors for the entire event. While free and open to the public, registration is required at www.coldhollowtocanada.org/events, and we may need to cap numbers, so register soon!. Event details will be sent upon registration. All ages are welcome.
ALSO coming up in Belvidere: Women Owning Woodland VT (WOWVT) is sponsoring a Winter Tree ID walk! This event will take place on Feb 26th, 10am-noon at the Belvidere Pavilion. Meet at the Belvidere Elementary Parking Lot. Please contact Nancy Patch at nancy.patch@vermont.gov if you are interested.
