Our meeting will begin at 7pm with a report from the Ad Hoc Committee on Redistricting. This committee was created by a City Council resolution late in 2021. The Committee was charged with facilitating and gathering community input on the existing redistricting plan, reviewing the past plan (pre-2014), hearing opinions about the number of councilors per ward/district, and considering the current ward/district configuration. The findings of their work will be presented on Monday evening and the Council will use this feedback in establishing priorities for the new map that will be drawn for the next decade for local council and school board offices.

Following public forum and any climate emergency reports, we will move to our deliberative agenda which includes:

• A communication from the mayor on the appointment of the Chief Innovation Officer.

• A second public hearing on the one Charter Change to be placed on the Town Meeting Day ballot. The proposed change is regarding sex workers.

• A resolution regarding the general aviation community at the Airport which would be referred to the Council's Transportation, Utilities and Energy Committee.

• We have three additional resolutions for ballot items to be placed on the Town Meeting Day ballot:

The first is a resolution to pledge the credit of the City for public improvements within the Downtown Tax Increment Financing or TIF District.

The second is a resolution that will propose a increase of 4 cents to the General Fund tax rate.

The third is an authorization to issue General Obligation Bonds for Capital Projects. This is a scaled back bond request after the December ballot item was not successful. The request is $23.8 million, pared back from the $40 million request last month.

• The last item on our agenda is a resolution regarding extending the public face covering mandate in Burlington for 30 days beginning February 1, 2022.

I encourage you to use the following link to all agenda items and supporting documents: http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public

As always, I welcome your questions, concerns, and comments, so please be in touch. Your voice matters and I am grateful for your input.

I will have a blue newsletter out in the mail to you early next month that will discuss the Town Meeting Day ballot items.

I hope you are have a wonderful weekend despite the rather chilly forecast.

My best,
Karen
