First anniversary of the TPNW. What was once a dream is now in the process of becoming a reality. On January 22, 2021 the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons entered into force and the international community declared nuclear weapons to be outlawed.
In Burlington, events marking the one year anniversary are scheduled for Friday Jan. 21: At the corner of S. Prospect and Main St. in Burlington from 8:30-9:15 AM and at a booth in the UVM Davis Center (first floor lobby) from 11 am – 2 pm.
These events are part of a nationwide effort to mark the new reality. Please join us.
We are calling on the United States to take immediate steps to join the Treaty, and we are calling on the VT House of Representatives to support a resolution already passed by the Senate in 2019 calling for Vermont to refuse the basing of any nuclear weapons delivery systems here. Passing this would mean Vermont speaks with a unified voice against preparing to wage a nuclear war.
