Dear Neighbors,
I write this as the snow is falling outside my window. There is a rare beauty in a Vermont winter that sometimes takes a back seat to the summer and fall. This weekend I was at the waterfront when white steam billowed off the lake against the crystal blue sky and today watching a gentle snowfall reminds me that in addition to outdoor sports, the solitude of winter has its splendor.
I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend and taking time to reflect on the amazing life and legacy of Dr. King. Taken from us way too soon, there is so much wisdom we can learn from his contributions and dream of racial equity and justice. His dreams are with us every day; our job as a society is to work to make them a reality, honoring his memory and the good work of many others who continue to carry his vision forward.
Tomorrow, the City Council will convene the second of four regular meetings for the month of January. The meeting is a public hearing on the one Charter change that will be on our Town Meeting Day ballot; namely, the changes to our Charter regarding sex workers.
