In 2021, 53 Vermonters died while homeless. During December in Lamoille County, 65 households including 30 children experienced homelessness and sheltered in local motels, or survived day to day outdoors in makeshift shelters, tents, or cars.
Lamoille Valley Housing & Homelessness Coalition (LVHHC) partners invite the community to the 5th annual Homelessness Awareness Day Walk and Vigil, an outdoor event that memorializes Vermonters who died while homeless, raises public awareness around our community's housing and homelessness challenges and solutions, and amplifies voices of community members who have experienced homelessness.
WHAT: Homelessness Awareness Day Walk and Vigil activities include a walk through downtown Morrisville, speakers from area housing, homeless, and social service organizations, a pop up COVID-19 vaccine booster clinic, and hot chocolate. Open to the public, community members are invited to join. Masks and warm layers are strongly encouraged!
WHEN: Thursday January 20, 2022 from 12:00PM until 2:00PM.
WHERE: Meet at the Northgate Plaza (120 Northgate Avenue, Morrisville.) The group walk will follow a short walking route through downtown Morrisville, ending at the Oxbow.
