Climate change is a multi-faceted issue that requires a diversity of approaches to address. It impacts our environment, our relationships with the land, and our relationships with each other. This panel invites climate change professionals from different backgrounds–advocating for equity in climate change policy, studying plant and ecosystem responses, and working with communities on conservation strategies–to get together and share some of their work.
The speakers will present perspectives on how climate change is impacting our region, some of the challenges it presents, and what we can do on a community level to adapt to the changing environment. We will then hold a Q&A and discussion on how their work intersects and how community members can take action.
Indra Acharya (he/him) is a Winooski resident and member of Winooski Students for Antiracism (WSA) focused on policy and advocacy, involved in a CAP project working on climate change policy and income disparity.
Judy Anderson (she/her) works with nonprofit organizations through Community Consultants on practical strategic conservation initiatives, incorporating local communities, climate change, governance, and communications
Aaron Marcus (they/them) served for more than a decade as Assistant Botanist with the VT Department of Fish & Wildlife, and their work centers on Vermont's rare and endangered plants and serving on VT Agency of Natural Resources' DEI Committee
