Join us to celebrate the launching of a whaleboat! Students from Middlebury's Diversified Occupations Program have been working all winter in the Boat Shop at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to build a whaleboat for Mystic Seaport's newly restored whaleship Charles W. Morgan. We'll parade them down to Basin Harbor for the launch. Starts at 11am, reception to follow. Free.

Then stay to hear And She Alone Remains; The Past, Present, and Future of Charles W. Morgan, a talk by Matthew Stackpole of Mystic Seaport Museum. A native of Nantucket, Matthew Stackpole grew up on the grounds of Mystic Seaport where his father was Curator from 1953 to 1966. Matthew became a rigger at Mystic in 1965, and went on to become a charter schooner owner and captain, American history teacher, and Executive Director of Martha’s Vineyard Museum before rejoining Mystic Seaport in 2008 to work on the Charles W. Morgan Restoration Project.
Starts at 1:30pm. Free.
