The library book club will meet on the last Thursday of this month at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom to discuss the book Homeland Elegies, by Ayad Akhtar. We still have copies of the book available for loan. I just finished reading the book and have a lot to think about -- is this really a novel, or a memoir, or a social essay in long form? In any case, it's a fascinating story of a Pakistani immigrant and his American-born son finding their place in American society before and after 9/11, and before and after Trump's election. Just about every aspect of current American life comes into play, making the book as funny as it is dismaying.
