Ray Small, the owner and editor of the Hardwick Gazette, wants to make the Hardwick Gazette into a vibrant and relevant community newspaper by creating a band of citizen reporters who will report on their favorite local topics. He and the Hardwick Historical Society have planned a brief workshop on Journalism 101 (it's not rocket science) to give people confidence that they can join that band.
Details:
Who: Ray Small, Editor of the Hardwick Gazette, and the Hardwick Historical Society
What: will present a free workshop on the basics of writing for a newspaper
When: at 7:00 pm, January 12, 2022,
Where: at the old railroad depot at 42 Depot Street in Hardwick.
How: Small will lead a discussion about how basic journalism works, followed by hands-on exercises.
Why: To encourage people with no formal training in journalism to try their hand at becoming a citizen reporter for the Hardwick Gazette. Small wants to keep his paper relevant and alive. The Historical Society worries that without a vibrant local newspaper, much of the detail of Hardwick history will disappear.
