Thanks, VTDigger for recently bringing attention to this very real public safety issue-- a critical blood shortage.
Here is the info: https://vtdigger.org/2021/12/29/vermont-and-the-nation-face-a-critical-blood-shortage/
I was afraid to go down this road until 2001, Sept 11 aftermath, when we thought we'd have a great need. But even then, I only volunteered at the VFW in Mo'ville. The tide changed for me when I saw kids--17, 18 yo's fearlessly lining up.
From that day, I give every chance I get for whole blood or Power Red--52 units to date, almost 8 gallons. Even through the pandemic.
After I had COVID in 2020, before vaccines, I gave Convalescent Plasma as a COVID response.
***There's a blood drive at Stowe Community Church on January 13.***
Gah, it feels great and It's NOT HARD!
You can give whole blood every 8 weeks, up to 6 times/year
You can give Power Red every 16 weeks.
Wear your mask, be safe, but please, just go if you're comfortable.
The life you save...
