Experimental painting workshop with watercolor and collage

When: February 12, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Where: Golden Rule Mead at 8 Elm Street in Middlebury, Vermont. What: Experimental painting with watercolor and collage, a workshop taught by Alice Eckles

Who: Hi, I'm Alice Eckles. I'm a daily painter. I love to keep the conversation alive and prove to myself there there's nothing that can stop me from making art. For me painting is a very flexible discipline that can be modified to suit all conditions, circumstances, feelings, abilities, and is basically fluid like water with its ways of slipping around obstacles. I enjoy working in lots of different mediums and exploring how they combine using what I know about them to meet the unique artistic needs of each day as I see it. In this class I will teach a technique that came to me in a dream that suited to my need for simplicity and nostalgia by combining watercolor, collage, and cold wax medium. I will also demonstrate some of the experimental methods used in my artistic process to help you develop your own experimental painting methods.

How much: $150

Art Supplies for the project are included. You are also encouraged to supplement with your own materials. A materials list will be sent to you prior to class for your information.

Testimonial for art classes with Alice Eckles:

"Inspired by the purchase of my two Alice Eckles paintings during this past summer, (2021), I asked her if it would be possible to have an art class or two with her. She kindly obliged me and we had two art classes together, one focusing on oil painting and the other on watercolors. Alice works in these and also other painting mediums such as gauche and cold wax paintings so her ability to expand her student's experience base with a variety of painting methods is just one nice benefit of Alice's painting classes. In addition, and most importantly to me, Alice was able to help me move through some painting blockages I had been experiencing for some years now. Using an exploratory approach to painting, Alice met me where I was at and gave me a new perspective that allowed for more creativity and my own explorations to come through. I highly recommend Alice Eckles painting classes to both beginners and even non-beginners who may be experiencing their own creative blocks."
