PAINTERLY COLLAGE WORKSHOP
at new new art studio, 4 Howard Street, Suite I-17, Burlington VT
This 2 week workshop will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30pm
February 15 - 22, 2022
In this 2 week/day, participants will develop 3 or more mixed media drawings/paintings of similar composition in order to then cut/tear them up and reassemble them into a collage using hot glue. You will draw from still life arrangements referencing objects provided or brought personally to the class. The drawings will be developed further into mixed media watercolor paintings that consist of light, medium, and dark valued compositions. Participants will create depth and unity by varying saturations and hues in the final collage. This method is very much like making your own puzzle and figuring out how to put it back together in a way that makes painting three-dimensional. After taking the class, participants will have a greater understanding of the terms and techniques above and know how to collage at home using this process. Basic drawing and watercolor skills are helpful but not necessary. All materials and tools are provided.
Cassandra Grigware is an interdisciplinary artist from Grand Junction, Colorado currently earning her MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
The class is limited to 5 people. $120 (Supplies included.)
