The countdown to Highlight is on! Presented by Burlington City Arts and Signal Kitchen, this year's citywide New Year's Eve celebration is taking place outdoors and online, providing a "hybrid happening" to celebrate safely with dozens of Vermont-grown performers.
In-person programming takes place at two outdoor locations: Waterfront Park and the lot behind BCA Studios (405 Pine Street). Exclusive virtual events, such as live sets of music from Mister Chris and Maiz Vargas Sandoval, run throughout the day on Highlight's streaming platform.
Headed downtown? Kick off your day in Waterfront Park with a kids countdown to Noon Year's Eve, hosted by singer-songwriter Emma Cook. Dance to the rhythms of Sambatucada, Jenni Johnson and the Jazz Junketeers, and the artists included in the Bright Idea Bash mini-festival, and laugh along to the Front Porch Follies and other side-splitting comedy teams. After a full day of festivities, cap off the night with fireworks, Cirque de Fuego setting ablaze a 20' wooden Champ sculpture, and a heady lakeside dance party with Zach Nugent's Disco Dead.
Tickets are $10 for virtual access and $15 for an all-access button. A full schedule as well as ticket, performer, and parking/shuttle information is available at https://highlight.community/.
