Public Meeting on City Redistricting: Mon, Dec. 6

Past event
Dec 6, 2021, 6 to 8 PM

Third and Final Public Meeting:

Burlington is in the midst of reviewing populations in our voting Wards.

This process, known as "Redistricting", may result in changes to our current Ward populations, Ward boundaries, and Representatives to City Council.
Redistricting is required by the US Constitution following the US Census, with the non-partisan goal of equalizing the populations among different voting districts. The City is holding three Public Meetings, at which you can learn more about, and contribute to, Burlington's Redistricting process, the last of which will be held on Monday, December 6th.

Each Ward has one "Citizen" representative, selected by Ward NPA's in the fall, charged to solicit, and listen to, public comment. I am the Ward 1 rep and invite you to our final "listening session" on Monday, either in person at Champlain College's Miller Center, or remotely via Zoom. Alternatively, contact me directly. Public comment and suggestions from such Meetings, and future surveys, will contribute to a final paper on Redistricting for City Council to consider and ultimately put a final plan before voters for approval, probably in November, 2022.

In person attendees on Monday are REQUIRED by venue rules TO BE VACCINATED for joining us as follows:

Champlain College Miller Center, 175 Lakeside Ave: Dec 6th, 6.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.
