We are looking for participants for our last work party of the year on Sunday the 28th of November at the Krusch Nature Preserve. We will meet in at the bottom of Forge Drive on Pumpkin Harbor Road at 9:00AM for a short orientation and walk in from there.
This is a great opportunity to atone for Thanksgiving's excesses.
This is a one day effort to cut, uproot and stack the Asian Honeysuckle infestation at the preserve. We will have a couple of small tractors to do the heavier grunt work. The bramble growth has been brush hogged to allow easier access to the plants.
This part of the preserve is not on the current trail path. The area was carefully revived by Peter Krusch over many decades from a barren SandBlow to its current well vegetated state. It will be an interesting area to watch as it continues to evolve over the coming years and decades.
We also have a punch list of remedial work that we will may be able to tackle; small tasks that can be undertaken by pairs or individuals.
We will have a supply of tools but please feel free to bring any that you have. Pruning tools, Gloves hard rakes, grass rakes, brush clearing tools, etc.
Dress for the season. Bring water, snacks, and so on. Small first-aid items would be a good idea.
See https://kruschnaturepreserve.org/work-party-days/ for information about the preserve.
Thank you
