All Those in Favor - Rediscovering Town Meeting and Community with Susan Clark
Thursday, December 2⋅6:30 – 7:30pm
Please join us for a presentation by Susan Clark, Town Moderator of Middlesex, VT and author of the books, All Those in Favor: Rediscovering the Secrets of Town Meeting and Community, and Slow Democracy: Rediscovering Community, Bringing Decision-Making Back Home.
This book examines Vermont's town meeting tradition – its strengths, its vulnerabilities, its problems and its prospects – then offers specific tips for citizens and local officials on how to strengthen local democracy.
Clark will offer an overview of the history, value, and meaning of town meeting in general, and possible new ways of conducting town meeting. The library will have copies of All Those in Favor after Thanksgiving for folks to borrow.
Susan Clark is a facilitator and writer who consults with communities across the northeast on how to build inclusive, deliberative and empowered public engagement. She serves as Town Moderator of Middlesex, Vermont.
