Event: Nov 15, 2021, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
All of us have a role to play in supporting and nurturing local communities that welcome and include. Students, teachers, leaders, employers, and community members from diverse backgrounds and perspectives strengthen the fabric of our local communities. In schools, curriculums that detail the full range of our histories prepare the next generation of critical thinkers and participants engaged in democracy. The divisive climate we find ourselves in has made some communities flash points for rhetoric that prioritizes individual preferences over the common good. Join us for this two-hour panel with some of the state's most valued voices in the methodical work for greater racial and social equity in our schools and communities, both rural and suburban.
During this webinar style event panelists will share successes and challenges and highlight what legislators can do in the coming session, and what communities can do always to support this important work. We anticipate a vibrant, respectful exchange with plenty of time for audience questions and community learning.
Panelists
Dr. Amer Ahmed, UVM
Roderick Owens, Orleans County Coalition for Cultivating Equity
