Zoom on Nov. 15 with State Representatives

Past event
Nov 15, 2021, 7 to 8:15 PM

Dear Neighbors,

We welcome you to a Zoom meeting where you can hear about what your state representatives have accomplished during the 2021 virtual session. You can also hear about the issues we expect to work on going forward.

Importantly, we want to hear from you. What are your issues and concerns? What are your hopes for Vermont?

Additionally, we still have $600 million in ARPA funds to allocate. Speaker of the House Jill Krowinski and President Pro Tem of the Senate Becca Balint are on a listening tour around the state to hear your priorities. At our Zoom meeting, you will have a chance to talk about your ARPA priorities.

We are listening.

Sincerely,

Bob Hooper, State Representative 6-1

WHAT: Please join us as we review the 2021 session and as we introduce issues we expect to work on in our 2022 session.

We listen at your doors, at Neighborhood Planning Assemblies, and when we are out in the community. We take your email questions and listen when you call us.

We continue to listen to you and to bring your priorities to the legislature. We are therefore creating an equitable Covid-19 recovery plan that invests in people and leaves no Vermonter behind; we are rebuilding the economy in all 14 counties.

The ARPA funds are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make thoughtful, high-impact investments over several years that advance future priorities and accelerate COVID-19 recovery. Our current FY22 budget and American Rescue Plan Act investments prioritize:

● Advancing clean water and the health of our lakes, rivers, wetlands, groundwater, and drinking water systems; ensuring a toxics-free environment that protects our natural resources.

● Investing in child care to increase access, affordability and quality for working families, and to improve wages for early learning professionals.

● Strengthening systems and services that increase mental/physical health and social well-being.

● Increasing affordable housing stock for low- and middle-income Vermonters; transitioning houseless Vermonters to permanent housing with services.

● Addressing climate change by curbing emissions, electrifying transportation, and weatherizing more homes.

● Investing in higher education and workforce development to prepare Vermonters for 21st century jobs within the state.

● Centering racial and social equity in our investments.

● Expanding broadband and connectivity to facilitate remote work, tele-health, online learning, and small business creation.

We have heard you and you have asked us to create a strong economy, protect and clean up the environment, and build stronger, healthier communities where families can thrive, where the Vermont dream is accessible to everyone, and where Vermonters of all ages and veterans can care for and support themselves.
