Dear Neighbors,
Over the past several months, the Pension Benefits, Design, and Funding Task Force has been meeting to discuss the sustainability and future of our state pension system.
The Task Force has released their draft report, and they will be soliciting public feedback soon. In anticipation of this, Rep. Tanya Vyhovsky and Sen. Ram Hinsdale are hosting a forum TOMORROW (Thursday, Oct 28th from 6-7pm) with stakeholder representatives from the educators' and state employees' perspectives to better understand the Task Force findings and next steps. Rep. Vyhovsky and Sen. Ram Hinsdale serve on the House and Senate Government Operations Committees respectively, and this issue will come to our committees for action this upcoming session.
I wanted to pass this along in case you'd like to understand where things stand, what is at stake and share your thoughts about the path forward. Register here to access the Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYsf-ugrTstHtcnHhdufuOHGVcG6krQ_Hov
Note: The event will also be streaming this event live at www.facebook.com/KeshaRamVT and they will send the recording to everyone registered for the event early next week.
One of the reasons this discussion is so imminent is that the Task Force will have a public hearing on the evening of November 1 and we want to help inform and amplify the voices of those most impacted.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to Sen. Ram Hinsdale (kram@leg.state.vt.us, 802-881-4433) or Rep. Vyhovsky (TVyhovsky@leg.state.vt.us; 802-310-8329) about the event or directly to me, Rep. Emma Mulvaney-Stanak (emulvaneystanak@leg.state.vt.us; 802-448-0838)
