Curious about curling?
Upper Valley Curling is back in action this fall and is sponsoring a Learn to Curl session Saturday, October 30, 2021.
If you have always wanted to try curling, here is your opportunity! It is a fun sport with a few skills needed, and played with lots of strategy.
Learn to Curl is open to all people age 12 and older, and no prior curling experience is needed. We provide all the equipment. See below for what to wear.
Location: Wendell A. Barwood Arena, 45 Highland Ave, White River Junction, VT (behind the Hartford High School and Middle School complex).
Date and time: Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Please arrive by 6:00 pm to check in and sign waiver forms so that instruction may begin by 6:15 pm.
Registration: registration in advance is requested so that we may plan on having an appropriate number of instructors present. Sign up on our club website, www.uppervalleycurling.org
Click on the link on our home page. The cost is $25 per person per session.
Details: Participants will start with an off-ice introduction to the concepts and rules of the game and then move onto the ice for hands-on instruction and a short game. Teaching is provided by experienced curlers from our club.
Please wear/bring the following: Warm clothing that is easy to move in. A hat and gloves or mittens are recommended.
Shoes with non-skid soles to change into before going on the ice.
Sneakers or boots with a good grip are fine; just clean all loose dirt off the soles beforehand.
You are welcome to bring a water bottle (plastic or metal) on the ice
COVID-19 Guidelines for Curling at Barwood Arena: Masks are required while in the building. Fully vaccinated curlers may remove their masks while on the ice.
The lobby is not available for gathering.
For Learn to Curl participants, please head directly to the designated locker room. Locker rooms will be available no sooner than 15 minutes before our scheduled start time (e.g. available at 5:45 PM when we are curling from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM).
Please stay home if you feel sick. Do not enter the building if you are experiencing any of the following: Fever, Cough, Shortness of Breath, Difficulty Breathing, Chills, Muscle Pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell.
Curlers are expected to comply with all state/local/arena guidelines in effect during the curling season at the time of participation.
