October 25, 2021 from 8 am - 2pm the Vergennes Union High School seniors will be participating in the 19th annual Walkathon. This year the Class of 2022 will be walking for Project HOPE. HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty's Effects) has been a huge asset in our community, especially during the hard financial year we had in 2020. Over the past two years many people have lost their jobs, and have had a hard time financially. We want to share with our community the amazing work that HOPE does, and that any of our community members have gone to HOPE in times of need. They help with providing food for families, but they also help people who need clothes, jobs, housing, financial help and so much more. The Class of 2022 will be walking to the Middlebury Green from VUHS.

We will be walking through Vergennes, Waltham, New Haven, Weybridge, and Middlebury. We encourage everyone to give back. The Class of 2022 is donating to HOPE so that everyone in need can get the supplies and help that they need from the organization. We have permission to walk along roads in Vergennes, New Haven, and are waiting for permission from Middlebury/Weybridge. There will be a school bus following us along with two teachers driving in front and along the route with us. Chaperone professionals and parents will be supervising the walk. Students will use sidewalks when available. We hope the whole Class of sixty-four 2022 Seniors will walk!
