On Friday, August 23rd the Isle La Motte Historical Society invites you to come celebrate the official opening of the Frances Ford Exhibit from 5:30 – 7 pm.

The Isle Motte Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of the “Frances Ford Exhibit”, located in the Frances Ford Slab-Log Cabin on the Isle La Motte Historical Society Campus. This slab-log cabin was the Ford family home and became Fran’s home after moving back to Isle La Motte in 1964, having worked a good part of her life at United Technologies in Connecticut as a bookkeeper. She was an intelligent and educated woman as is evidenced in her diaries, which date back to 1925 and 1927. Fran’s diaries illustrate a serious, responsible, and ambitious young woman, who took business classes while working part time. She was involved in church activities, enjoyed dancing, going to movies, and all the attractions of Boston during the “Roaring Twenties.” Fran died on August 27, 2001at the age of 99. The Frances Ford Exhibit offers the opportunity to view life in Isle La Motte in the early 20th century and learn about one of our more interesting and long-lived residents.
