Dear Neighbors,
We know it is a busy time in your neighborhoods as people move into and out of rental units in the city. We want you to know that we appreciate your patience as the Spring Move Out Project (SMOP) team works to make the transition of hundreds of households as smooth as possible. Here is a partial list of the many actions we are taking:
STUDENTS
Mark your calendar for Thursday, May 22, from 11 am to 3 pm! On both Loomis Street (between Isham Street and North Willard Street) and lower Buell Street (between Orchard Terrace and South Union Street), you will be able to:
- Get rid of items in good shape for FREE
- Dispose of items in bad shape/other trash for a SMALL FEE
Remember that trash on the greenbelt is subject to a fine of up to $500.
To spread the word, we are delivering our “7 Spring Move Out Tips” brochure door-to-door. This information is also being sent to all UVM and Champlain College off-campus students in a variety of vehicles.
Burlington Code Enforcement inspectors are in the neighborhoods noting issues on a daily basis. If you see areas of concern such as furniture on the green belt:
- Check to see if someone has made a report on Code Enforcement’s SeeClickFix site (http://seeclickfix.com/burlington_2)
- If there is no report, you can submit one on the same site.
For more information on SMOP or to volunteer, visit www.uvm.edu/~oscr.
Thank You,
The SMOP Team: University of Vermont, Burlington Code Enforcement, Burlington Community & Economic Development Office, Champlain College, Chittenden Solid Waste District, ReSOURCE, Casella, & Myers.
