Public Hearing: Development Review Board May 19

Past event
May 19, 2014

What: Public Hearing on adopting a Planning Commission / Development Review Board model for Huntington (to replace our current Planning Commission / Zoning Board of Adjustment model)

When: Monday, May 19, 2014 @ 6:30pm

Where: Annex, Community Church of Huntington (Huntington Center – next to the Town Office)

A Development Review Board (DRB) is a quasi-judicial, citizen volunteer body created under Vermont Statute 24 VSA Chapter 117, intended to interpret and uphold zoning ordinances of the municipality. A municipality may create a DRB to consolidate the functions of a Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) and the subdivision review functions of a Planning Commission (PC).

At Town Meeting in March voters passed Article 10, which asked if they support moving from the current model of a PC & ZBA to the model of a PC & DRB.

On Monday evening (May 19 – at 6:30pm) the Selectboard will hold a Public Hearing at the Community Church Annex to receive comments regarding proposed amendments to create a DRB in the Huntington Zoning Regulations (readopted July 9, 2012) and the Huntington Subdivision Regulations (readopted July 9, 2012). Copies of the entire text of proposed revisions are available online at www.huntingtonvt.org (see links on the home page) or at the Town Office.
Written comments may be submitted through May 29, 2014 via mail (Huntington Selectboard, 4930 Main Road, Huntington VT 05462) or email (townhunt@gmavt.net).

For additional information contact Town Administrator Barbara Elliott at 434-4779 (townhunt@gmavt.net).
