Vermont Sustainable Energy Summit

Middlebury College will host U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, along with Vermont's congressional delegation and Governor Peter Shumlin, for the "Vermont Sustainable Energy Summit.” The summit will include remarks by Senators Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders, Representative Peter Welch, and Governor Shumlin, a brief keynote talk by Secretary Moniz, and a panel discussions that will include several Vermont leaders in sustainable energy. Discussions will focus on issues of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and ways to combat climate change. The event will take place this Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the newly named Wilson Hall (formerly the McCullough Social Space) and will conclude at 11:30.

The summit is part of a Vermont tour for Secretary Moniz, organized by Senator Sanders' office to showcase some of the ways in which Vermont is working toward a cleaner energy future. Senator Sanders' request that Middlebury host this event is in recognition of its efforts and achievements in sustainability leadership.
