Fundraiser: Walk for Ovarian Cancer Research (Ocna)

Past event
May 24, 2014, 9 to 10 AM

We will be meeting in front of WCS at 9:00 and walking the 5k loop (Old Stage Rd., Mountainview, No. Williston Rd., Rt.2)

Please join us on this walk to honor those who are, or have been impacted by ovarian cancer. Early detection is critical, and this form of cancer is difficult to diagnose because symptoms are often subtle and easily confused with other conditions. Supporting research and education is key!

If you cannot participate in the walk and would like to make a donation, please call Deb Chisholm (878-0462) or Darlene Worth (879-2803). You will be supporting the research and support programs of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (www.ovariancancer.org)

Ovarian cancer's subtle symptoms:
(these occur in the majority of women who develop this disease) - bloating, pelvic and abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and urinary symptoms. Additional symptoms may include fatigue, indigestion, back pain, constipation and menstrual irregularities.

Knowing these symptoms can make all the difference -- without increased education many women and their doctors will ignore or misinterpret symptoms.

OCNA is focusing on educating as many people as possible about the symptoms -- one way you can help is by going to this link and pledging to send an e-card with the list of symptoms to at least 5 friends: http://ovariancancerday.org/pledge/

Thank you!
