Housing & Homeownership Discussion Oct. 14

Past event
Oct 14, 2021, 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Dear Neighbors,

Over the past few months, many of you have reached out to express frustration and concern around the shortage of available, affordable housing and homeownership in our county and state. We as legislators have heard from Vermonters about property tax increases, viable rental options, roadblocks to home loans, urgency to address homelessness, and the need to bring more housing online.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, Housing & General Affairs, it is important that I keep my ear to the ground as we look to direct millions of federal dollars for housing projects and assistance. Senator Ginny Lyons sees related needs in her role as Chair of the Senate Health & Welfare Committee. We will be hosting a housing discussion this Thursday, October 14th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Zoom.

We look forward to starting the conversation and taking questions with Michael Monte, CEO of Champlain Housing Trust; Seth Leonard, Managing Director of Community Development at the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA); and Belan Antensaye, Strategy & Innovation Manager in Burlington's Office of Racial Equity, Inclusion & Belonging. Please consider joining to share your thoughts and listen to some of our housing leaders' perspectives on the issue.
