"The Other Americans" Book Discussion (part of the Libraries Transforming Communities grant awarded to the Waterbury Public Library) this past Tuesday was engaging and thought provoking. Discussion of place, home, the "other," PTSD & choices, staying safe vs running away, conflict, language challenges were some of the topics covered.

Our theme for this three week series is "Our Sameness/Our differences through Story."

Next up, this coming Tuesday, October 12th at the Waterbury Library, is Rajnii Eddins.

Rajnii is a poet with a beautiful soul and author of "Their Names are Mine," a collection of poetry written over the last 23 years. Though his words may cause some discomfort, they need to be heard. Rajnii asserts that each of us has a story that is valuable. Through his poetry and the historical context in which it was written, Rajnii will share how our stories can be used to confront racism and other injustices, affirm diversity and equity, and initiate community dialogue. Come away with ways to share your stories as connectivity to healing and understanding. 6:30 PM in the SAL room of the Waterbury Public Library.
