In celebration of the church's 1893 Hook & Hastings/Hale & Alexander tracker organ, we present an organ recital in October. The program will be shared by Vaughn Watson, past dean of the Vermont chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and Stephan Conrady, organist of the First Congregational Church. Mr. Watson has performed on this organ in previous years, and this time he will play works by Bach, Rheinberger, Alain, Messiaen, and Nigerian composer Fela Sowande. Mr. Conrady, composer, organist, and organ builder came to Vermont about five years ago from Germany; he now tunes and repairs many local pipe organs. Mr. Conrady will perform an original work that was inspired after attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II, Karol Wojtyla, in St. Peter's Square in 2005. Donations from this performance will benefit the ongoing care and maintenance of the organ.
