It's our 77th Anniversary! And, thanks to a generous donation from Stewart's Shops, we're celebrating with our 2nd Annual Annie Day.

In October of 1944, resident Annie "Nan" Huyck donated to Wells the former Universalist Church to be used as the village library. We want to keep her legacy alive, so every year, we'll be celebrating our anniversary with Annie Day.

This year, our theme is, "The Old Days."

Fiddlers Walter West and Martha Schilgen will be playing along with musicians Ken and Shirley Welch. The library is featuring 1940s-style games and toys. We'll distribute 25 gift bags containing an on-topic book along with old-fashioned items like pick-up sticks and kazoos. There are also wooden yo-yos, hop-scotch kits and other fun pastimes all of which were purchased locally from The Gold Trout. These are the kinds of games and toys kids might've enjoyed the very day Annie donated our library.

Informational packets about Annie and the library's history will be available and a video highlighting historic footage of the library's 1944 dedication ceremony will play for all to view. "Nan," the library's chipmunk mascot, will be present for fun family photos.

We are excited to also welcome The Larson Farm who will have their delicious, homemade gelato on-site as a special treat for attendees. Everyone will get one serving for free while it lasts.

Finally, to provide families the opportunity to experience firsthand kindness and giving in tribute to Annie, the library will again be gifting "Giving Muffins." These are specially designed coupons for attendees to give to someone else thereby gifting a free muffin from The Wells Country Store. Without providing the opportunity for guests to themselves engage in giving, the event would be incomplete.

See you there, rain or shine!
