LEDC SPONSORING WORKSHOP ON JOB DESCRIPTIONS: A JOB WORTH DOING RIGHT Many experts feel that the job description is the mother of all HR processes. Everything from recruitment and training to performance evaluations and compensation, all stem from the Job Description. Learning to understand all of the various parts of the employment life-cycle and how the job description touches them will help you take your job sescription from a compliance exercise to an important part of the development plan for your employees.

An up-to-date job description can be used for recriting, performance management and compensation. This workshop will review practical tips on how to use it in these key areas and how to easily keep it updated. By attending this workshop you will learn how and why to create and maintain job descriptions that involve employees, managers and HR staff and if you don’t have a job description procedure as yet, you will be given basic templates and support in starting or “re-starting” your process. As a bonus, you’ll be guided through an overview of the legal issues of interviewing and hiring and key employment laws to consider in the employment function.

The workshop is being presented by Deborah S. Eibner, MA, an Area Business Advisor for the VtSBDC. Deborah is also a Certified Business Coach and Certified Job and Career Development Coach. She has twenty years of real world business and human resources experience.

The workshop will take place on May 21st from 9 am until noon in the Community Room at Green Mountain Technology and Career Center in Hyde Park. The cost of the workshop is $49 and preregistration is required.
