Thirsty for some culture? As part of Vermont Open Studio Weekend, local artist and author Alice Eckles will personally showcase - and practice ! - her art at the Golden Rule Mead Cafe right here in Middlebury.

You may have met Alice at the Middlebury Farmer's Market, where she sells her art alongside honey and other apiary products with Dancing Bee Apiary and her partner, Ross Conrad. A number of her paintings regularly adorn the walls of the Mead Cafe, but this weekend she'll be on-site between 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday (October 2 & 3). Admission is free, and you're invited to meet the artist, take in her work, and perhaps take some home; she'll have originals, prints, literature, and more available. You could even have a sip of mead while you're at it - art and wine make a natural pairing, don't you think?

The event is open to visitors of all ages, with mead tastings/glasses limited to those of at least 21 years of age. The Mead Cafe is located at 8 Elm St. in Middlebury, on the corner across from Greg's Market and next to Royal Oak Coffee. We hope to see you this weekend !
