Dr. Jay Parini will be the guest preacher and Bible study teacher at Ascension Lutheran Church, 95 Allen Rd., S. Burlington. Dr. Parini’s recent book, Jesus: The Human Face of God, was profiled in the Burlington Free Press on December 20 (“Author Jay Parini Brings Scholarship, Personal Interest to Newest Book Jesus”). Dr. Parini, a poet, novelist, and biographer, teaches literature at Middlebury College. His many books include The Last Station: A Novel of Tolstoy’s Final Year, which was made into an Academy Award-nominated film, and Robert Frost: A Life. He teaches a course in poetry and spirituality at Middlebury, and he has been a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury for over thirty years. Bible Study begins at 9 a.m., followed by the worship service at 10:00. All are welcome!
