The St. Johnsbury Band has finished its weekly summer concert series from the bandstand in Courthouse Park. We are now in rehearsal working on new music and two final concerts for Veterans Day and a Holiday concert. Rehearsals are Monday evenings and now is the perfect time to start attending.
The band has an extensive music library as well as a budget to purchase new music. We play a wide variety of music including historic marches and patriotic pieces like 'Stars & Stripes Forever,' famous show tunes and concert band arrangements of popular music like 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' by Freddie Mercury. Our extensive music library has many out of print pieces of music as well as classic concert band repertoire. The band has a rich history that dates back to 1830. You can learn more about the band and its history by visiting the St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center, exploring our website http://www.stjohnsburyband.org/ or "like" us on Facebook.
All that is needed is a concert band type of instrument and basic music reading skills. Most people find that their ability to read music and perform on their instrument gets better rapidly as they play with us. Rehearsals are for fully vaccinated individuals only. After our holiday concert we will take a short break until January 17, 2022.
Joining the band is free and many find performing with a solid group to be very rewarding.
