Summer's winding down, but tomatoes, peppers, squash, beans, greens and potatoes are still ripening beautifully in this extended frost-free weather.
If your garden is overflowing as well, please come to the General Store on Saturday between 9 – 11, share your extra produce with our neighbors and/or take home some freshly harvested greens, veggies, herbs and eggs courtesy of Schoolhouse Farm. Everyone is welcome!
Here are the details: Bring your washed and trimmed garden produce between 9 – 11 (the earlier the better). We'll have a couple coolers but if you can put it in cardboard boxes or plastic bags, that'd be fine. The goal is to have all donations given away by 11 so that nothing ends up going in the compost pile.
"Extra Row," hosted by the East Calais Community Trust, is an informal weekly sharing of our gardens' bounty with our neighbors.
If you are unable to bring your extra produce but want to contribute, please ask a neighbor or friend to deliver it to the store.
Don't forget to come back later to purchase mouth-watering take-out from Jimmy Kennedy's JDK-BBQ food truck from 3-6:30. And please consider bringing a cash or check (payable to ECCT) DONATION to help us reach our fund-raising goal to re-build the new General Store. Thanks so much!
Feel free to email me with questions or suggestions. We look forward to seeing you!
Check our website for more info and updates on the building's progress, and how you can support our efforts.
